Honouring Our Outstanding Team Members

At HMT, we are proud to recognise and celebrate the loyalty, dedication and remarkable contributions of our teams through our Long Service Awards. These awards honour team members who have been with the Trust for many years, consistently putting our patients and residents at the heart of everything we do.
This year, over 60 members of staff received certificates and vouchers in recognition of their long service during special events held at their retrospective workplaces.

Among the recipients were Gill Firth, Endoscopy Manager and Sharon Lee, Admin Team Leader, who have both dedicated 35 years of exceptional service to St Hugh’s Hospital.

Gill began her journey with HMT in 1989 as an Enrolled Nurse, later joining the Endoscopy team in 1994, where she has played a pivotal role in the department’s growth. Reflecting on her time at St Hugh’s, she shared:
“Originally, Endoscopy was carried out in a patient room on a Saturday morning, but now I am proud to say it is a fully functioning Endoscopy Unit employing 12 staff. I have been very proud to work at St Hugh’s Hospital over the years. I have a lovely team who share the same work ethic and care deeply about each other and the department, which makes my job rewarding. I am very grateful to HMT for recognising my achievements and continued long service.”

Sharon joined shortly after starting her family, initially working as a part-time evening receptionist. Reflecting on her journey, she said:
“I wanted a role that I could fit around my family, and now I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else. The staff are wonderful to work with, and I have gained another family. Over the years, I’ve seen the hospital evolve and take on new projects to support our community. I’m honoured and grateful to receive this award.”

In addition to Gill and Sharon, many other colleagues were recognised for reaching milestones of 20, 15,10, 5 and 3 years of service.

Dr Nichola Stefanou, Chief Executive Officer of HMT said:
“Our patients and residents know that when they come to any of our sites, they will receive high-quality care delivered with dignity and respect. This level of care is only possible because of the dedication, passion and expertise of our wonderful teams. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them.”
We extend our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to all our long-service award recipients for their unwavering commitment to HMT and the communities we serve.
