About us

St Quentin is a trio of care homes in Newcastle-under-Lyme, rich in history.
St Quentin Care Homes are part of the Healthcare Management Trust Group. HMT is a not-for profit health and social care charity, who believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality, compassionate healthcare.

St Quentin Residential Home was originally built for Colonel Sir George Wade. He was a well-known pottery manufacturer who lived here from 1925-1952.

The Battle of St. Quentin Canal was a pivotal battle of World War I, following the crossing of the canal in 1918 by the South Staffs regiment, Colonel Wade was awarded a bar to his Military Cross. Thus, he named the house after that historic event.

Subsequently, the house was purchased by George Poole, a local builder who lived here until the Moorhouse family bought it in 1974.

In 1988, owned and managed by the Moorhouse family, St Quentin opened as a residential home for the elderly. In 2000, the Hawthorns was acquired, followed by Langley House in 2018.

In 2024 The Healthcare Management Trust Group acquired the 3 care homes from the Moorhouse/Avril family.
